Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCE-16) would be held on May 2 as the Telangana State Higher Education Council on Tuesday announced the dates of eight CETs to be conducted this year.
Higher Education Council chairman T Papi Reddy said that PGCET for admissions into various post graduate courses in Osmania and other universities would be held on May 29 and EdCET for admission into Bachelor of Education courses would be held on May 27.
Interestingly, all the other CETs including ECET, ICET, LAWCET, PGLCET and PECET are scheduled to be held in the month of May this year.
Papi Reddy said that the schedule of various state conducted tests was prepared in such a way that other entrance tests held by central agencies would not clash with those of state ones.
IIT JEE Main examination is scheduled to be held on April 3 and JEE Advanced is scheduled on May 22. Similarly, VITEEE (Vellore Institute) entrance is scheduled from April 6 to 17, 2016. CLAT (All India Law) is scheduled on May 8 and UPSC prelims are scheduled on August 7 this year.
He informed that state government would follow the instructions of AICTE norms while permitting private engineering colleges for counseling. He said, “Ultimately state government wants to improve the standards of the higher education in state and engineering colleges are no exception.”
It is to be reminded that most of the seats were left unfilled in various engineering colleges across the state which raised a serious debate over the existence of engineering colleges in large number.
