Director General Anti-Corruption Bureau A K Khan on Thursday advised the Haj aspirants to be aware of deceiving practices of private tour operators and don’t fall prey to their promises.
After releasing the application forms for Haj 2016 at Haj House he said that aspirants must check the credentials and their genuineness of the private tour operators before booking seats.
He said, “Everyone must be aware of private tour operators and check the quota allotted to them by Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Every year these operators dupe hundreds of gullible pilgrims, therefore people must obtain receipt for the amount paid to them.”
He said that State Haj Committee was carrying out all necessary measures for the smooth arrangement of Haj camp and journey for the pilgrims this time and it would cost Rs 2 lakhs per pilgrim this time.
He advised the people to apply for Haj 2016 only if they were mentally and physically sound and have proper financial background. He said that a person should be able to bear the expenses beside hardships of the journey.

Minorities Welfare Department secretary Syed Omer Jaleel on this occasion said that the process of selection of Haj pilgrims was very transparent and there would be no scope for any recommendations.
He cautioned the people that there would be certain unscrupulous elements who dupe applicants promising their selection, whereas there would be no scope for selection out of Qurrah (draw of lots).
He advised the applicants should not wait till last date and submit the forms at the earliest. Haj committee special officer S A Shukoor presented a report on the Haj 2016.
He said that State Haj Committee has made arrangements for accepting applications of the Andhra Pradesh pilgrims and applications would be accepted till February 8. The applicants would have to remit an amount of Rs. 300 per head in SBI or the Union Bank of India.
He further informed that in view of Makar Sankranti, Haj Committee office would not function on January 15.
