Chief Editor, Rahmath Interviewed Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Senior MLA from Nagar Kurnool
Q1. Are you looking to join any other party like TRS or BJP before elections?
Ans : After leaving TDP I have been trying to unite all the political parties on issue Telengana. I have already contested in the by-elections as an Independent candidate. At present, as the elections are very near, so I can’t give a confirm reply to your question. I need some time to arrive on any particular decision.
Q2. How do you see the “Bayyaram mines” issue?
Ans: When the people in Andhra fought for a steel plant with a slogan “Visakha Ukku-Andhrula hakku” (Steel for Vizag is the right of Andhraites). Why can’t we fight for the Telengana region? It’s our right; we will fight for Bayyaram ore mines to establish a plant in our region. We have resources like ore, water etc then why can’t we establish a plant here? Earlier in Sri YSR tenure the mines were allocated to “Rakshana Steels” which is belongs to (Dr. Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s son-in-law Mr. Anil Kumar). Due to that reason the state Govt presently is acting against it.
Q3. Would you think will Congress carve out Telengana before Elections?
Ans: We become anti-congress since the incident in many who were fighting for Telengana lost their lives in police firing in 1969. But the Congress had not shown any reaction to the issue. And in recent agitations at least 600 people lost their lives while protesting or by committed suicide for the cause of Telengana. Congress party is responsible for all these agitations and unrest in the region. Still the Congress is silent on the issue. If Congress lead UPA won’t declare Telengana then it would be a question on its leadership claim.
Q4. Are you going to contest for MP or MLA in coming elections?
Ans: I may not be able to answer your question right now (smiling). Let us wait and watch.
Q5. What is your Opinion on Central leadership?
Ans: For the past 9 years we had a weak PM who can’t take independent decisions on national issues. We have seen major scams such as 2G, Coal and now the border dispute with China. It is difficult to judge in which direction this country is heading. It is impossible to the UPA Govt to lead the nation towards peace and development.
Q6. How do you look at Modi? Meaning to say, do see him as a PM candidate?
Ans: Though BJP have many strong leaders there like Advani, Sushma swaraj,Modi , Arun Jaitley and Rajnath singh who can become the PM of India. But there is a national opinion on Modi, youth wants him to be the PM of India. However, in Indian politics we cannot predict anything before elections. In the fight between NDA and UPA, I opine that the NDA will be victorious.
